Award-winning: This photograph taken by Ilia Yefimovich for AFP showing Israeli settler David Be’eri running over two Palestinian boys who were throwing stones at his car was chosen as the best photograph at the “Local Testimony” exhibition 2011.
Be’eri, the chairman of Elad — an organization dedicated to expelling Palestinians from their homes in east Jerusalem in an effort to Judaize the area — was not found of any wrongdoing after police accepted his explanation that he had no intention to harm. The two boys were not tried as they were under the age of responsibility, however, a local resident who was present at the time was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment. ( Ilia Yefimovich / AFP)
